Getting Started

As a tenant, here’s how you can connect to the Franklin Fibre network.

  1. On your device, go to your available Wi-Fi networks and select ‘Franklin’
  2. Open your browser, you will be redirected to the Franklin Fibre Login page
  3. To set up an account, click on ‘REGISTER NOW’
  4. Fill in the applicable as completely and correctly as possible as the information you provide will be verified against payments
  5. Make sure you read the Terms and Conditions carefully and tick the box
  6. Once you click on ‘REGISTER ACCOUNT’, you will be given temporary login details which you can use to log in to the Control Panel

* PLEASE NOTE: As soon after you log in to your account for the first time, be sure to change your temporary password to keep your account secure. The Franklin and Fire-IT (Pty) Ltd will not be liable for loss of data.

Log in to your User Control Panel Home Page and navigate to the ‘Purchase Credits’ option.

Next, select the value of the bundle you wish to purchase, and choose a method payment.

Sage Pay

  1. After selecting Sage Pay as your preferred method of payment, you will be provided with overview of your order. Click ‘Next’ to continue.
  2. You will be redirected to the secure Sage Pay portal. Enter a valid email address and cellphone number (preferably ones that are linked to your bank account)*
  3. Enter your credit card details as shown (click on the green button to enter your CVV code)
  4. Click on ‘Pay Now’. You will be redirected to a secure website which will prompt you to enter your 3D secure pin which will be sent via SMS to your cell phone to authorise payment
  5. Once authorisation is complete, you will be redirected back to your User Control Panel with status of your payment as well as invoice.

PayFast

  1. After selecting Pay as your preferred method of payment, you will be provided with overview of your order. Click ‘Next’ to continue.
  2. You will be redirected to the secure PayFast portal where you will need to Register an account. Enter a valid email as well as your name and surname. Click on ‘CONTINUE’.*
  3. Select your preferred payment details and enter your card details as requested. Click ‘PAY’.
  4. You will be redirected to a secure website which will prompt you to enter your 3D secure pin which will be sent via SMS to your cell phone to authorise payment
  5. Once authorisation is complete, you will be redirected back to your User Control Panel with status of your payment as well as invoice.

IMPORTANT: After payment, you will receive an email that will force you to register and choose a password for your Payfast account. (Failing to do will reverse payment and expire your account)

Following payment, once you return to your User Control Panel Home Page, your Account Status will change to ‘Active’.

If you have any troubles buying credits or managing your account, all queries can be directed to our dedicated IT Provider, Fire-IT, who offer a few options for support that’s convenient for you:

Option 1: Helpdesk – log a ticket online by clicking on Helpdesk on the top right of the Franklin Fibre login page or User Control Panel (Please register an account to get access to full support from Fire-IT, which will enable you to submit and manage your tickets via email at support@fire-it.co.za).

Option 2: Call 087 820 1059 – log a ticket over the phone with all your details and a technician will call you back

Option 3: On-site Assistance – guaranteed in 72 hours during business hours

PLEASE NOTE: Additional costs apply for all remote and on-site support services

If you would like to add your Smart TV, PlayStation, Apple TV or Android TV, please log a ticket with Fire-IT (see Support Section) asking for dedicated Wi-Fi to be set up in your room.

To do this include, please state your username and password for your User Control Panel in your ticket. We will also require your room number as well as the password you would like it to be configured to in order to secure your dedicated Wi-Fi.

FAQs

No. The line is already installed and every unit at The Franklin has a Wi-Fi router in place ready to connect to fibre. You only pay for the data you use.

When you connect to the wireless for the first time, it will take to you a login page, however if you don’t already have an account, you will need register for one.

If you haven’t set up an account yet, you will not be able to access Franklin Fibre. Simply open your browser while connected to the ‘Franklin’ wireless to begin the login process. Once you’ve registered an account and provided as much detail as possible to verify payment details, you can buy data and activate your connection.

The Franklin and Fire-IT bypassed local Fibre resellers and went straight to the leading fibre provider, SEACOM, who owns and operates a network of submarine and terrestrial high-speed fibre-optic cable which offers super low contention ratios.

Franklin Fibre offers super low contention ratios which means that more bandwidth will be available to individual users on the network at any time. Put it this way, while the average Internet speed in South Africa is like peak hour traffic on the N1 to Johannesburg, Fibre Internet is like the same highway, only no congestion all day long, no matter the time or number of users.

With Franklin Fibre installed, we can confidently say that we can provide each room up to 75Mbps to 100Mbps wireless throughput for every single room.
